Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, update and correct our content.

Our standards

Retail Toolkit publishes calculators and educational content for retail operators, managers, accountants and students. Every page is created and reviewed by the Retail Toolkit Editorial Team — retail specialists with hands-on experience in supermarket operations, retail finance, waste reduction and labour planning.

Sources

Formulas follow industry-standard definitions documented in our calculator methodology. Benchmarks are compiled from published industry reports, regulatory filings, retail trade associations and the team's operational experience. Where benchmarks vary by region or format, we publish the range rather than a single point.

Review cycle

Every calculator and guide is reviewed at least once a quarter. We re-review immediately when (a) the underlying formula or accounting standard changes, (b) published benchmarks meaningfully shift, or (c) a reader reports an issue.

Corrections

If you spot an error, please contact us via the contact page. Verified corrections are made promptly and the page's "last updated" date is revised to reflect the change.

Independence and conflicts

Retail Toolkit content is editorially independent. We may display advertising (clearly labelled) and link to relevant tools we operate. We do not accept payment for editorial placement or for changes to benchmark ranges or recommendations.

AI and content generation

Drafts may be supported by AI tooling, but every published page is reviewed, edited and signed off by the editorial team. We do not publish AI-generated content without human review.

Limitations

Our calculators are educational tools — they produce a defensible KPI answer from the inputs you provide, but they do not replace professional accounting, tax or legal advice. See our disclaimer for details.
